Wines - Icons

Our Icon wines are the epitome of Howard Park’s winemaking philosophy. That is, to craft elegant, age-worthy wines from Western Australia’s foremost grape-growing regions - Margaret River & the Great Southern.

Critical site selection & meticulous viticultural care has gone into each Icon wine – the Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon & Allingham Chardonnay.

Both, in name, pay homage to significant members of the Burch family. Walter Abercrombie was Jeff Burch’s great-grandfather, while Muriel Allingham was his grandmother.

The Abercrombie is now the name of the original Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon, which started life in 1986. Each year it is a blend of the top fruit produced from the Leston vineyard in Margaret River, & the Abercrombie vineyard in Mount Barker, Great Southern. The wine is crafted with longevity in mind, & has a cellaring potential of 20 years.

The Allingham is also made with considerable cellaring potential for a Chardonnay, of 8 – 10 years. Its fruit is sourced from the Allingham vineyard in the Karridale sub-region of southern Margaret River.
