Howard Park has furthered its footprint in Western Australia by acquiring Forest View vineyard through its long-term partnership with the Radomiljac family who produce Pemberley of Pemberton wines. The purchase of the 48-hectare site gives Howard Park another superb quality fruit resource for its Jeté sparkling wine range, and other wines across the Burch family’s portfolio.
During his tenure at Howard Park, Senior Winemaker Mark Bailey has seen a few changing of the guards, him work alongside notable winemakers such as Janice McDonald, through some iconic and unforgettable vintages, and has worked on wines across the entire range including Jeté, Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvingnon, and Allingham Chardonnay.
The first-ever Pre-Vintage Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony welcomed newcomers and celebrated the start of the harvest, presented by the Margaret River Wine Association (MRWA) and Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA).
Since 1986 Howard Park have been producing remarkably long-lived Riesling. Recently Wine Club Manager David Stredwick was lucky enough to attend a vertical tasting of sixteen Howard Park Rieslings, hosted by one of our Perth-based members. Reaching back as far as the 1998 vintage, the evening offered an enlightening insight into the evolution of one of our favourite varietals.
The story of Abercrombie is interwoven into the very history of Howard Park Wines itself. Join us as we reveal the journey of this wine, from an experimental planting in 1975 in the nascent Great Southern region, to its status today as an iconic, multi-regional West Australian Cabernet Sauvignon.
A second-generation vigneron and son of Jeff and Amy Burch, Richard’s career has spanned multiple departments from working vintages, time spent in the Cellar Door, as a brand ambassador and now, Sales Director where his work sees him initiating sales channels both nationally and internationally.
We are honoured to announce that Howard Park’s Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon has been awarded Three Merits in The Real Review’s Wine Classification of Australia. We are 1 of only 6 Cabernet Sauvignon’s included in this list. Abercrombie is the first wine Howard Park ever made in 1986, and it remains our flagship to this day; representing a winemaking journey underpinned by vision, meticulous viticulture, uncompromising commitment to quality, and excellence in winemaking.
The second annual Global Sparkling Tasting hosted by Howard Park Wines took place last month, with luminaries from across the sparkling wine category in attendance to taste and discuss the growing quality of locally-produced sparkling wine, in addition to exploring various styles from across the globe.
