2007 Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc Reviews

The newest edition to the Howard Park portfolio, fruit is sourced from vineyards across Western Australia. It has cool, citrus and apple fruit, with a touch of peach coming through. There's a little grassy quality too, and onto the palate this bursts into life, with a really crunchy, vibrant, lime and juicy apple quality. The freshness of the acidity and that grassy cut is tangy and vibrant.

The green, grassy, herby, mouth-wateringly juicy fruit is from the portion of grapes sourced from the Pemberton region of Western Australia. For the citrus characteristics and the weighty feel say thanks to the 50% from the Margaret River. Very focused. Very crunchy and fresh.

A very stylish, pretty wine with a lightly perfumed nose that has some delicate cut grass aromas underneath and a palate that is fine, clean and tight.

Made mostly in stainless steel to retain this variety's fruit notes of freshly picked snow peas, a touch grassy with passionfruit pith but no pungent notes; instead there's a spicy, almost peppery layer. Bit of texture, from the 2% barrel ferment.

Howard Park is living proof that fine SB can be made in reasonable quantities. This is a clean, fresh, floral style of Sauvignon with great length and mineral-imbued acidity.

I like this bracing tight style of sav blanc. Lots of grassy mineral freshness with nice tropical richness. Crunchy and flinty with that zippy acid sustaining a penetrating finish. Pure crisp and delightful current drinking.

Gooseberry, green herbs, hints of passionfruit and wild flowers and grassy notes along with mineral hints all from a complex nose. Soft yet pronounced and lively and lifted aromas. Fresh acidity supports and complements the fruit characters well along with crispness on the finish. Delicate in one dimension, elegant in another, very drinkable stuff either way. Drink now.

2007 was an outstanding vintage for Western Australia's south west region, and this is well reflected in Howard Park's 2007 Sauvignon Blanc. The wine has good acidity and varietal definition, with a tiny amount of barrel fermented wine adding smoky complexity.

Very pungent and lively with passionfruit, banana, citrus and tomato plant. On the palate crisp and direct with sour edged grapefruit, guava, banana and herbal flavours. Razor sharp. Very precise and tight with flinty acid and an exceptionally long finish. This is a racy grassy herbal style but it is full of life and vigour. An outstanding Australian Sauvignon Blanc.Drink 2007 - 2009.

Cool aromas of pineapple, apple, nashi pear and sprinklings of spice hint at the exceptional quality of fruit used in this 100% free-run beauty. Atop of a canvas of zesty lemon-y acidity, Tony Davis and his palette of southern Margaret River and Pemberton grapes paints a vibrant, lively picture of high-definition tropical fruit flecked with crunchy lime and lemon highlights. The flavours are almost ethereal in their purity and slowly and deliberately waltz from the front of the palate to the back, one content tastebud at a time. With the release of Howard Park's fourth vintage sauvignon blanc, the new Howard Park winemaker has set himself a lofty benchmark to aspire to - I'm looking forward to tasting more 2007 Howard Park wines in the future.
