Vertical Tasting at Howard Park

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE - 1986 TO 2006

The Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon vertical tastings ran over two days, the esteemed guests arrived in Margaret River on Thursday 15th of June and then spent the following two days hidden away at the winery, enjoying the 20 year showcase of Howard Park Wines. The exclusive event was the pinnacle of 20th anniversary celebrations that are taking place at Howard Park Wines this year.

Howard Park Wines owners Jeff and Amy Burch recognise that Howard Park Wines is still a relatively young company and took this opportunity with the top wine writers to reflect over the last 20 years and look at the future development of the trademark Howard Park Wines style and flavour for the two original varieties of Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Peter Forrestal summation of the

Howard Park Rieslings (1986 to 2005) "...bright, fresh and zesty with dry minerally acidity and have the capacity to age brilliantly..."

on the Howard Park Cabernet Sauvignon (1986 to 2004) "...intense cassis flavours, beautiful integrated oak with wonderful depth and length, finesse, elegance and harmony, the group loved 1994, 2001, 2003 & 2004."

Owner Jeff Burch says:

This is a great and rare opportunity for us to reflect on all of our past vintages of our two original wines, it is a very humbling experience to look at the wines year by year remembering the circumstances of the vintage, what hopes you had for the wine when it was young and later discovering how it has evolved. It is at these times that the timeline of quality wine making is forever imprinted in your mind. I’ve worked towards establishing Howard Park as a premium family wine company. This success will be measured by the work we do now for future generations.”
