Howard Park Riesling Nominated 2007 White Wine of the Year

Thursday, 3 January 2008

The 2007 Howard Park Riesling has proudly been nominated as the 2007 WineStar White Wine of the Year, further cementing its place as one of Australias icon Rieslings.

In addition to this excellent affirmation, Howard Park were also awarded a placing within the 2007 WineStar Top 100 for the 2005 Howard Park Scotsdale Shiraz and 2005 Howard Park Chardonnay.

WineStar’s Bert Werden had this to say about the Howard Park Riesling:

“To my mind, Australian Riesling is the most likely variety to come close to perfection. Taking that thought a step further, the Howard Park Riesling 2007 is that close to this idea of perfection it is not funny. The Howard Park has line, it has length it teases with the merest hint of tropical fruit, perhaps showing its WA roots before smacking you with a citrus crunch of lime, lemon and if you sniff it for as long as I did, some pear. The perfection continues in the mouth where these beautiful characteristics are balanced with a no-beg-your-pardon mouth-puckering acidity that leaves you doing all sorts of tricks with your mouth and tongue long after the wine has disappeared. By a measure, this is an exceptional wine at, what must be said, is a ridiculously low price. Now – 2018. Quality: Exceptional.”
