Friday, 23 May 2008

Howard Park has further cemented its international reputation as a premium Cabernet producer, with the flagship 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot collecting a Silver Medal at the recent International Wine Challenge in London.

This is the third show medal for the wine, which is made from only the best fruit to an uncompromising standard. It has been crafted to show outstanding complexity and elegance and to be a true reflection of premium Western Australian Cabernet.

Esteemed West Australian wine writer, Ray Jordan rated the wine 97 points, describing it as:

"…powerful yet elegant. May well be the best yet."

A Bronze Medal and two Commendations were also awarded to the 2007 Howard Park Riesling, 2005 Howard Park Scotsdale Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2006 Howard Park Chardonnay respectively, proving Howard Park’s standing in the world of wine.

“To be judged by a group of extremely high calibre judges in a competition against the world’s best and to be honoured for a collection of our wines, these awards and recognitions validate Howard Park’s position as a world premium wine producer.” says Owner, Amy Burch.

Renowned as the world’s largest competition and boasting more than 9,000 entries, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) is said to be the biggest and best blind tasting in the world. This year, more than 370 winemakers, merchants and writers from around the world spent 2 weeks intensively tasting wines from 40 different countries.
