David Burch

David Burch is particular by passion. Whether it’s the Leston vineyard (named after his late father Leston Burch), Howard Park’s brand identity, his wife Bronwyn and their three children, surfing or 16 years as one of the stars of the Australian Ballet Company, everything David turns his hand to is done with immense consideration and perfection.

Take a stroll through Margaret River ‘Leston’ Vineyard and you’ll witness his meticulous vine husbandry. Glance over Howard Park’s stunning new labels for an insight into David’s creativity, also evident in the design of the Estate.

His former work with the nation’s most prestigious dance company has no doubt strongly influenced his approach to design and creative vision for the vineyard and Estate.

Responsible for producing the perfect image for his brother’s winery, David regards the vineyard as a 360-acre canvas and admits he “cant help get whipped up in the euphoria of the property’s development”.

One of David’s most memorable experiences during his eight years with MadFish & Howard Park includes the advice from the chief winemaker that fruit from the ‘Leston’ vineyard had made it into the prized Howard Park wine. It was the hand picked 1999 Shiraz harvest and vineyard’s first vintage.

Since then David’s favourite variety - the vineyard’s Chardonnay - has also been selected for Howard Park’s award winning Chardonnay.
